The Hideaway is located at the end of Samara Beach,
across from Isla Chora. We are on the road between Samara & Carrillo, turn west at the ICE telecommunications tower--you'll see our sign. You can walk on the beach to nearby restaurants within 10-15 minutes and to Samara in 20-30 minutes.  Samara is on a well-paved road which is 1.5 hours from Liberia International Airport and 4 hours from San Jose’s airport. 

By Air:
Costa Rica is well serviced by major airlines including: Delta, US Airways, American, Continental, United, Northwest, British Airways, Mexicana, TACA, Copa and a number of other carriers. HINT: When you arrive at the airport, you can purchase the departure tax. Then you can avoid the lines on the day that you're flying out! This is a great time-saver.

By Car:
From San Jose, drive north on the Panamerican/Interamerican Highway to the junction with route 18 (just past Limonal). Continue there to river Tempisque and cross the new bridge "La Amistad" or Puente Tempisque. Continue on  to Nicoya. From Nicoya take route 150 to Samara approximately 38 km / 24 miles.  Please note that roads are not always well marked with route numbers, so look for signs with city/town names.

By Bus:
Buses leave every day from San Jose at 12:30 p.m. and 6:15p.m. from Alfaro Bus Station, 150 meters northwest from the Coca-Cola station. The cost of one way ticket is $6 per person and the trip is approximately 5-6 hours long. We advise you to buy tickets one day in advance.

Shuttle:
Companies such as Interbus, Fantasy bus and Montezuma Expedition offer daily service from San Jose to Samara. Prices average $40 per person. There is private shuttle service from Liberia Airport, for approximately $125/shuttle, up to 6 passengers. Please email us for more detail info@TheHideawayPlayaSamara.com .
